Problem

It is reported that, when Fra Giocondo visited Paris at the beginning of the 16th century, he gave lectures about Vitruvius at the university that may have had the form of a commented reading of the antique text. As it seems, it has never been asked, what effect these lectures had on his listeners. Given the strong interest in Antiquity, that later developed in France and led to the leading participation of French antiquarians and architects in the growing research on Antiquity, it seems at least plausible to expect some connection between Giocondo's stay in France and this interest.
