Achille Bocchi
- humanist in Bologna
- founder of the Accademia Bocchiana
- According to [Hobson 1980: 112], his school for young gentlemen was founded in Bologna in 1546 and for the first three years supported by Paul III Farnese and cardinal Alessandro Farnese.
- used the same "Greek 1" typeface designed by Sophianos that was developed for Cardinal Cervinis project of a Greek edition in Rome, for his work: Achille Bocchi, Symbolicarum quaestionum de universo genere, Bononiae: In aedib. Novae Academiae Bocchianae, 1555. (The 1574 edition of this work does not use Greek 1 but a different Greek font.) [Layton 2012: 44]
The Symbolicarum… is dedicated to Cardinal Alessandro Farnese.
